Frank C. Armstrong papers, 1898-1906 (bulk 1900-1906).

The papers are comprised of both Armstrong's business and personal papers and consist of correspondence, meeting minutes, financial statements, stock issues and general accounting information related to his career in the electric vehicle industry at the beginning of the twentieth century. Also included are materials related to several lawsuits Armstrong was involved in, his military records, and a small number of blueprint reproductions of several electric vehicles. The papers are organized into four series: Electric Vehicle series, Ansonia Motor Car Co. series, Armstrong's Personal Papers series, and Photographs series. Included in the Electric Vehicle series is a subseries of documentation of the New Jersey Electric Vehicle Transportation Co.(NJEVTC), one of several subsidiaries set up to provide sales facilities for vehicles and taxicab service. NJEVTC focused largely on establishing contracts with several hotels in the state's resort areas to provide cab service for patrons. The Photographs series, ca. 1898-1903, contains photographs of various electric and gasoline automobiles produced by the Electric Vehicle Company including surreys, runabouts, Victorias, cabs, buses, and delivery wagons. Personal photographs of friends and business associates are also included.
